What’s already trending in food 2017 style? Purple everything.
As they say, you are what you eat.
The color purple is often associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition. Purple also represents the meanings of wealth, extravagance, creativity, and wisdom.
So upgrade 2016’s “it” foods like cauliflower, quinoa, avocado, over-night oats for their much cooler and trendier 2017 replacements. Such as, black rice, purple asparagus, elderberries, acai, figs, purple sweet potatoes, purple corn and purple carrots.
Purple isn’t all just for looks, it also has secret health power. An analysis of the latest data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Study (NHANES), a survey of eating and health habits, found that adults who eat purple and blue fruits and vegetables have reduced risk for both high blood pressure and low HDL cholesterol; they are also less likely to be overweight. Purple hued veggies and fruits also bring you higher antioxidants than their average colored counterparts. For example, purple carrots contain 28% more of the antioxidant anthocyanin than orange carrots.
If your 2017 resolution was to be more trendy or healthier, then you know where to start. Purple hued food!
